Manuel Imperial Abella
Manuel Imperial Abella was born on 27 October 1908 to Mariano Isaac Abella and Juana Hernandez Imperial. He studied at the Colegio de Naga, Ateneo de Manila and the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila. An academic at heart, Manuel finished his BA in Philosophy in 1928, his MA in 1929, his Doctorate in Philosphy in 1930 and Masters in Law in 1931.
Manuel represented the First District of Camarines Sur in the Constitutional Convention of 1934. In February 1935, the 27-year old Manuel sailed for the United States on an official Senate mission to Washington DC. The ship’s manifesto reflected his status as “Single” and his occupation as “Senator”.
